As one of the largest colleges at Mason, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) offers an expansive range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary degree programs: 23 undergraduate majors, 70 minors, 14 graduate certificates, 18 master’s degrees, 9 doctoral degrees, and 22 accelerated master’s degree pathways.
Zachary Schrag, professor in the Department of History and Art History, has received an NEH grant for his research on the history of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project to help understand the possibilities of the ambitious efforts to reshape daily transportation choices.
Mills Kelly, professor of history and RRCHNM senior scholar, and RRCHNM have been awarded two separate NEH awards—one in support of Worlds Turned Upside Down, a narrative documentary podcast series about the history of the American Revolution, and one in support of the digital preservation of Civil War graffiti houses.
Mason placed 2nd out of almost 60 schools, edging out teams from the University of Alabama, Bradley University, University of Illinois-Chicago, Cornell University, and the University of Nebraska Lincoln.
